Your ROAS
3.50x
Every $1 of ads brought back $3.50 in revenue (350%).
Break-even ROAS at this margin
2.50x
Profit after ads
$800
Above break-even: the ads pay for themselves at this margin.
ROAS is half the picture
ROAS tells you how much revenue each dollar of ads brought. It doesn't tell you whether you made money: that depends on what's left of each sale after the product, shipping and fees. A 3x ROAS on a 25% margin loses money. Put your margin in the calculator and it shows the break-even ROAS and the profit after ads.
Two ways to raise it
The usual way is working on the ads: targeting, creative, bids. The other is the page the ads send people to. ROAS is revenue over spend, and revenue is visitors × conversion rate × order value. If the page converts 3% instead of 2%, the same ads bring 50% more sales and the ROAS rises by the same share, without touching the campaign. See your rate with the conversion rate calculator, and your order value with the AOV calculator.
Paid traffic arrives cold, which is where pages lose the most visitors. We go through why in why your sales page isn't converting, and the free landing page analyzer checks yours.
Questions
How do you calculate ROAS?
Revenue from the ads divided by what you spent on them. $7,000 of revenue from $2,000 of ads is a ROAS of 3.5x, or 350%.
What is a good ROAS?
One above your break-even ROAS. A 3x ROAS is profitable for a product with a 50% margin and loses money on one with a 25% margin. That's why the calculator asks for the margin.
What is break-even ROAS?
The ROAS at which ad spend equals the profit the sales leave after costs: 1 divided by your margin. With a 40% margin, break-even is 2.5x.
Should I use revenue or profit?
ROAS uses revenue, which is why it can look healthy while the ads lose money. Add your margin to see the profit after ads.
Do you store what I enter?
